What I record

For each page you view: the page's address (without anything after a ? or #), how long it was on screen, the website that sent you here (its name only), and your country as reported by my host, Vercel. This runs on my own server and is stored in my own database. No advertising or third-party trackers are involved.

Cookies

This site sets at most two cookies of its own, and no third-party cookies:
  • analytics_consent remembers your answer to the cookie question, so you aren't asked again. It's set whichever way you answer.
  • analytics_id is the analytics cookie, set only if you allow it. It holds a random code with nothing about you in it, and lets me see that the same browser came back on a later day.
Both last a year. Turn analytics cookies off below and the analytics cookie is deleted straight away.

Without the analytics cookie

To count unique visitors, the server combines your IP address and browser type with a secret key and the date, then keeps only the scrambled result. It changes every day, so it cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next, and your IP address itself is never stored.

Interest lists

If you leave your name and email on a project page, I keep them only to contact you about that project.
